Why child survival?
Nearly 10 million children in the developing world die each year before reaching the age of five. Most of these children die from diseases we know how to prevent or cure, such as pneumonia, diarrhea or measles. Over the next 10 years, an additional 15 million children can be saved by initiatives focused on increasing basic immunization rates and access to essential vitamins and nutrients, and by reducing hunger and malnutrition. Protecting children from disease and malnutrition increases their ability to learn and thrive, while ensuring the health of the next generation.
