Why Christians believe Jesus is the God but not the prophet of God?
Because He said He was God. And once you say you are God, there are really only three choices: either you are God, or you are lying, or you are crazy. If you are lying or crazy, you aren’t likely to be even a prophet of God. So that leaves only one option, He is who He said He was. Let’s look at what He did, with sometimes thousands of witnesses: he healed the sick, he raised the dead, he fed five thousand men (they didn’t count the women and children who were present) on five loaves and two fishes and picked up twelve baskets of the leftovers. He walked on water. He turned water into wine. And finally, He allowed Himself to be sacrificed and then rose from the dead himself. By what authority and power did He do all that? He clearly had authority and power over the very laws of physics and nature. If He was a prophet, maybe God gave Him power.
