Without civil engineering today’s society could not function. Civil engineers build the infrastructure that supports daily life: roads and railways, airports and harbours, hospitals, schools, and sports stadiums. Civil engineering is all about creating, improving and protecting the environment on which the modern world relies. Civil engineering is an interesting and rewarding career, offering the chance to work on all manner of projects all over the world. Civil engineers can either be in the office, working on designs at a computer or ensuring the client is kept up to date, or on site, leading teams and solving problems. Opportunities Civil engineering is a growing industry. An increasing population and the need for better and more secure infrastructure mean more civil engineers are needed.
