Why create a Web site about fainting goats?
Im Lyndsey Lewis, a journalism student at the University of Florida focusing my studies on news writing. As I make my way through the journalism curriculum, Im also familiarizing myself with multimedia reporting. This project was designed for MMC 3260, a UF class about online communication, but its idea was conceived in fall 2007 when I first saw a fainting goat video online. Convinced the goats would make for a great feature, I stored the idea in my mind but didnt act on it for a few months. After enrolling in MMC 3260, though, I decided to make the concept a reality by creating my final class project about fainting goats. I also typed a story about a local fainting goat ranch to incorporate into my Web site. That story eventually landed on the front page of the Independent Florida Alligator, the student newspaper at UF. Since starting work on this endeavor, Ive received lots of positive feedback. People are genuinely interested in the quirky world of fainting goats, which is enormous
