Why did Ben & Jerry get right of Cherry Garcia flavor? Or was it just in Hong Kong?
Ben & Jerry’s have the rights to the Cherry Garcia flavor throughout the United States and not just Hong Kong. The flavor was created in 1987 by Ben & Jerry at the suggestion of a couple of Deadheads. Deadheads are fans of the band The Grateful Dead, the band that Jerry Garcia was the leader of. In 1997, the Cherry Garcia trademark was given to the estate of Jerry Garcia, since Jerry Garcia had died in 1995. It is probable that because by that time, Cherry Garcia was such a popular flavor, Ben & Jerry’s were allowed to continue making Cherry Garcia ice cream. This was written in Simple English for those people who have learned English as a second or third language.
