I’ve seen The Godfather about a million times. And I NEVER made this connection. Now I have to try and figure this one out. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. As if I dont have anything else to do! As an Italian/Amercian, I can say that I’ve never heard of any connection between oranges and death. And as an attorney who represented “mob” guys, I’ve never heard anything either. Now I HAVE heard that the smell of citrus often is associated with death. Perhaps that’s it. Anyway, thanks for a great question.
