Why did Jefferson buy the Louisiana Territory?
He bought it because Jefferson feared that Napoleon would try to make France the number one power in the US. He also needed the New Orleans port for the people to transfer their products down the Mississippi River. If the French closed the port then the people would lose thier jobs, and they wouldn’t get the neccesary things that they need in everyday living like food.
