Why did Leia kiss Luke, her brother?
Leia kissed Luke in order to make Han Solo jealous. Neither Luke nor Leia knew they were twins. Indeed, George Lucas probably did not know either. An early draft of Empire gave Luke a different sister entirely. It is unclear exactly when it was decided that Luke and Leia should be siblings, but their true relationship was not revealed until the next film, The Return of the Jedi. The first audiences for The Empire Strikes Back undoubtedly wondered – and were meant to wonder – whether Leia would end up with Luke or Han by the end of the film.
