i believe they wanted to instill fear in terry melcher because manson wanted a music career and melcher was in the music biz.when he turned charlie down,he was so pissed that he wanted to go up there and do away w/him.it just so happens that he moved out and sharon tate moved in.and manson knew this and still went ahead w/his plan,to show melcher he meant business and that could’ve been him.
