Why did Mn/DOT re-bid the eastbound Wakota Bridge?
Mn/DOT removed the eastbound Wakota Bridge construction from the current contract and re-bid the work . This decision was made after months of negotiations failed to reach agreement. Mn/DOT and the contractor were negotiating on cost and schedule modifications to address changes in the bridge’s design that were needed to address a design problem that was discovered and addressed during the construction of the westbound river bridge. (Mn/DOT Amends Wakota Bridge Construction Contract; EB River Bridge to be Re-bid) The current contract, minus the eastbound I-494 river bridge construction, remains in force and Mn/DOT is working with the contractor to complete other roadway and bridge construction on the project.
