Why did mussolini invade ethiopia?
Mussolini invaded Ethiopia, because, first of all, he had grandiose ideas of building a “new Roman Empire,” and being the new Julius Caesar. But, this was not the only reason for his invading the African country. The italian colonies of Eritrea and Somalia were under constant raids from gangs in Ethiopia. So, being in support of Mussolini and Italy, the governments there asked Mussolini to address the problem. So, Mussolini asked the Ethiopian government to take care of the problem of the raids, but instead they did nothing about it (some believed that this was because the government took part in the raids as well). Thus, Mussolini invaded Ethiopia after giving a speech saying, “Ahora basta!” This meant “now it stops!” (referring to the raids of Eritrea and Somalia).
