Why did Paul McCartney choose the pseudonym Paul Ramone to record with the Steve Miller Band?
He adopted the stage name “Paul Ramone” early in the Beatles career; he revived it for his session with Steve Miller. (The song was “My Dark Hour”, with the same guitar riff as Miller’s later “Fly Like An Eagle”.) McCartney often worked under pseudonyms with collaborators, so they wouldn’t have to pay him (or EMI) any royalties or fees.
