Why did people settle in Mesopotamia?

0

Mesopotamia is Greek for ‘between the rivers’ referring to the Tigris  and Euphrates rivers that ran through the area. Regular flooding in the Spring caused a very fertile portion of land around these rivers and provided a great area for agriculture and growing food. The rivers also provided an excellent system for trade and transportation making Mesopotamia the perfect location for people to live and develop a civilization.
