Why did the Anglican church breakaway from the roman catholic church?
It was the Church of Rome which issued an act of excommunication against Henry and refused Communion with the Anglican Church. Later the papacy following its success at the Council of Trent issued a fatwa against Elizabeth, Henry’s daughter and tried to supplant her on the English throne with a foreign king. An unwanted intrusion in Englands domestic politics.
