Why did the International Olympic Committee choose Beijing?

0

There are always questions about the choices, and doubts from the losing bids. After Salt Lake City hosted the winter games, some of the committee members admitted to receiving brides and some of the LOC members went to prison for giving bribes. The IOC wants to move the games to different parts of the world so as not to be in the same areas too often. This complicates the process, and keeps some from being considered. There has been a lot of pressure to award the games to Africa and South America, but so far no bid has gone forward for consideration. Asia was due for the Games and China was the logical choice since Japan, and South Korea had previously hosted the Olympics. It is safe to say politics played a major role in China being awarded the Olympics.
