Had it not been for certain strategic and tactical errors, the army’s performance would have been better than it actually was. It was one of the greatest mistakes of the Iraqi leadership to accept formal engagement to the end of the road, despite the amazing disparity of forces. Had the leadership husbanded the army’s strength and means till the second page had been turned, Iraq would have been liberated and the occupation ended long before today.
