Why did the schlieffen plan cause tension?

0

Well, the Schlieffen Plan was basically Germany’s ONLY plan. It took many years to devise. So, here was their “amazing” plan: – Casually march through Belgium to France. – Defeat France in a mere 6 weeks. – Hastily go to Russia and attack them and win! – This would work because Russia is such a “backward” country, they will be attacked before they even mobilise*. Bwuahaha! In reality, this is what happened: – Russia and Germany were in the war but France wasn’t. – Germany invented a way to make France enter war [upset French] – Germany marches through Belgium [Makes Britain in war over an agreement – “a scrap of paper”, the British called it] – France was ready, Russia had already mobilised. EPIC FAIL. Caused tension because.. ** The British public were outraged that Britain entered the war “over a scrap of paper”, just because Germany went through Belgium. ** German troops felt morale was down because the plan failed. Idk lol. I tried to help?
