Why did Thomas Kinkade stop painting under the brush name Robert Girrard'?

Thomas Kinkade stopped painting under the brush name Robert Girrard' in early 1990 at about the same time he entered into a business relationship with Ken Rausch to publish Thomas Kinkade works under an entity called Lightpost Publishing Company.
