Why do americans speak English?

0

Because, the original pilgrims that came here (for the majority) spoke English. Eventually, they spread out and carried their language with them. There were also other countries that settled here, but the anglophones dominated and, naturally, the dominated peoples lost their language. This is why we all speak English. I honestly hate English, because knowing it as a first language makes learning most others more difficult because most other Indo-European languages have gendered words, and not neutered ones. However, I also don’t mind it because English is the most widely spoken language (area wise) and has the biggest multi-media publishing industry.
