Why do atoms need 8 electrons in there outermost shell to become stable?
like sodium have 1 electron in outer most shell and 8 in 2nd shell so it will donate one electron to some other atom to become stable similarly chlorine have 7 electrons in outer most shell so it will gain electron to become stable why does this happens potassium have 1 electron in outer most shell but 3rd shell can have 18 electrons so why it have 8 in 3rd shell and remaining one goes to 4th shell i think this all has one and same reason please tell me
