Why do Catholics honor the Immaculate Conception?
Let me explain a little about what the Immaculate Conception is and it’s history. I took out the parts of the story I was not sure about from here: http://www.amm.org/catherine.htm Every time the Virgin Mary appears in a public apparition, she takes on a persona suitable to her audience and the goal she’s there to accomplish. In the case of the Immaculate Conception, she appeared to Catherine Laboure in France, and revealed to the world that she is the the Immaculate Conception, meaning that she was conceived and born without sin. She had Catherine copy an image of her standing on the world, on top of a snake, with the words proclaiming that she is the Immaculate Conception around the edge of the image.
