Why do Festival registrants have to choose between two concerts that are taking place at the same time on Thursday, April 2?
Almost every music festival or conference schedules activities simultaneously, which often means choosing between two (or more) good options—not necessarily a bad or unusual thing. This year’s festival committee has chosen to have simultaneous concerts in two separate venues on Thursday evening for several reasons. We are able to involve a greater range of performers, both in numbers and diversity, as well as make use of more intimate venues. Having two concerts at the same time also allows us to sell a limited number of public tickets apart from the Festival to help fund the participation of more major artists in the Festival. Even though Vic Chesnutt, Baby Dee, Julie Lee and The Hold Steady are all great artists, we hope you’re not too agonized over the decision between the two concerts; if so, we hope you’ll still be delighted that $125 is such a good price for three major concerts, three keynote lectures, dozens of fascinating workshop options and all of the other great benefits th
