Why do horse jockeys talk funny?
Never even thought about it. As a betting lover I focus more on the results or at least the best tipsters but definitely not on how do jockeys talk. But now I really want to pay some attention to the issue so you actually made me a bit curious.
I don’t kn ow that I would consider their voices to be classified as funny. But jockey’s are small people and have small features, so that may explain the soft tone of voice they have. In April I went to Keenland for the Bluegrass Stakes and sat right by the jockey room. As a matter of fact, I sat with some of the jockey’s wives and got to talk to several of them. The jocks would come out and sit with their wives between races, so I got to talk with them to. Robby Alberado’s wife was not there, but I not only talked to him, I got my picture made with him, Same with Calvin Borrell and Jamie Theriot. Jamie is quite tall and has a rather deep voice. Robby also has a normal male voice, and Calvin sounds exactly the way you hear him in interviews. He is very nice. I also talked with Angel Cordero, finally.
