Why do I choose “giclee” prints vs. other methods of reproduction?
1) Closest to the original Although they are one of the most expensive types of art prints, giclee reproductions of my paintings create prints that most closely match the original paintings. A digital scan is made directly from the original painting (vs. scanning from a transparency or photograph of the art) and ensures precise detail reproduction. Sometimes I paint on canvas, and sometimes I paint on art paper; a giclee can be printed on both those surfaces. Giclee prints on canvas can also be stretched on wooden stretcher bars, just like those I paint on. Compared side by side, it is a challenge to distinguish a well made giclee from the original painting. 2) A giclee print is “museum quality.” I worked hard to maintain a reputation as an artist with high standards, and I want to be sure my prints are superior.
