Why do I need Mail-SeCure as well as desktop anti-virus?
Mail-SeCure provides many advantages which cannot be delivered by an anti-virus product alone. As an email server based product, Mail-SeCure unpacks and scans email content and attachments before they reach the desktop (or even the corporate email server). As a Content Security product, Mail-SeCure can scan the text of messages and block or redirect inappropriate content. Standalone Anti-Virus products (even the ones that run on email servers) can’t do that. Mail-SeCure can also detect, block and strip email of all dangerous attachments types – such as EXE, PIF and COM files. It does so by scanning the file type – NOT simply the file extension as many products do. Therefore an EXE file renamed to .DOC for example would still be blocked.
