Why do I need more than 1,000 MB (1 GB) of disk space?
While some websites still comfortably fit in under 50 MB of space, there are many reasons why you may need more disk space. Firstly, if your website contains many images, or you want to provide rich media (audio or video) content, your needs could rise dramatically. The average graphic utilizes between 20 KB and 200 KB (0.2 MB) of space alone. If your website has many different graphics, it will require substantially more space. You may have also noticed web sites that contain message forums, or “blogs”. These forums generate web pages much faster, and therefore require much more space. Also, if you provide software, PDF documents, or other products for your visitors to download, these can easily occupy several MB of disk space and could easily begin to cramp your style if you don’t have enough.
