Why do i slice my golf shot???
I’d suggest that in order of importance – it’s a matter of grip, stance and shoulder turn. Grip is often too open – that is, we don’t even hold the club correctly. Most of us are right handed, with a tendency to over-emphasise use of one or other hand – and often when trying to ‘correct’ mishits, we only make matters worse. A good exercise is to hold the club in front of you at chest height – with no more bias left/right hand. And not to grip too tightly. In trying to ‘correct’ a slice, we often tend to open/close our stance when standing square to the ball is the only way. Sometimes – with a serious cross wind we have to deliberately aim 40 yards off the fairway so as to allow for wind – but the square stance principle applies just the same. The rest is all down to easy, relaxed shoulder-turn – remembering to keep the head still, an eye on the ball – keeping the spine as still a possible – letting the shoulders, arms, grip and club whip through in the correct order.
