Why do java programs which work for most other people in the class, exhibit strange behaviour or memory errors for me?
This could be due to java not having enough memory for it to run without problems. In your .cshrc file, there is a probably a line limit memorysize 20megabytes Newer versions of the “standard” .cshrc do not set this limit on Solaris 2 machines. The standard .cshrc is in /software/accounts/data/standard/home/.cshrc Change your .cshrc to do what the standard .cshrc does with respect to (not) setting this limit.
