Why do kids/teens sometimes hide food under their beds?
I don’t know why they would hide it under their beds. When I was a teenager, my younger brother and I would come home after a night of recreation with a serious case of the munchies. We would (quietly) raid the refrigerator for anything that could fulfill our cravings. The most memorable nights were when we found a lemon meringue pie in the fridge. We would grab the whole pie and two forks and make a beeline for the garage. We would turn on the light in the back of the garage, and put the pie on the seat of my motorcycle. Then we would stand on either side of the cycle and devour that pie. I estimate the average lifespan of a pie was less than six minutes when a 17 year old and 15 year old boy get their forks into it. An aside: I found that whole “warm apple pie” scene in the movie American Pie to be totally unrealistic. I can’t imagine any teenage boy ruining a good pie like that! Pies are for eating!
Here’s a list of reasons I made, on why kids/teens hide food under the bed… Well, sometimes, it’s out of embarassment. Like, if they think their family members are gonna mock them because they still drink from a bottle, there’s a chance that the child may hide their food under their bed. Another reason is, the child doesn’t want the monster under their bed to eat them, so, sacrifices their food. They don’t want Santa to eat all the cookies for Christmas, or it’s the other way around. They hide cookies under their bed so they have some more for santa just incase cookies run out. Children/Teens have invented a new version of hide-and-seek, except, with the hiding of the food. they may also be curious to know how good an animal’s sense of smell is. Fear, the dreaded siblings, for they, can blackmail. They can also bribe their other siblings to do as they please, though. The child/teen fears that they will get in trouble for ‘stealing’ food (or taking too much), so they hide it under the
