Why do many dermatologists recommend an SPF 30 if SPF 15 adequately protects skin from sun damage?
Dermatologists often recommend an SPF 30 because their patients (and the American public) either dont apply enough sunscreen or they apply it too infrequently. By not properly applying sunscreen you can lose a lot of its sun protection benefits. Dermatologists are often more concerned with how much sunscreen you apply, and how frequently, rather than the SPF number.
