Good point. Many people do use “plain” English such as the words you put in brackets. But others like to keep the beauty of the language that contains words like “thou” and “art”. There can also be doctrinal reasons for some wanting to keep it, but those would be too long to get into here. It’s kinda like if I were to quote something from Shakespeare, and you came along and messed around with it a little in order to put it into modern day language. So I might say, “Romeo and Juliet”, while you might be putting on a school play for teenagers and change it to “Ronnie and Julie.” But the interesting thing to me is how some people put themselves down about this subject.
