Why do master masons or Freemasons wear gloves?
White gloves have historically been a symbol of innocence, and that is really the extent to which they have any Masonic symbolism. Part of the story of Solomon’s Temple as recorded in Jewish history notes that a group of workers approached Solomon in such a fashion. Beyond that, again in a historical context- gloves were a standard part of formal attire, with no particular importance otherwise. By and large the only time Masons usually don gloves is for formal occasions, but do so also in recognition of the aforementioned custom of expressing innocence and virtue.
