Why do men leave the toilet seat up?

0

I think that men should put the toilet seat down. Looking at this from a risk point of view, men have far less risk using the bathroom with the seat down than women do with the toilet seat up. Maybe men are lazy, or simply “conserving energy” according to http://www.solelyanswers.com/why-do-men-leave-the-toilet-seat-up/, and therefore neglect to put the toilet seat down. Personally, I only keep it down when there is a girl around. Otherwise, I could care less.

I think men who leave the toilet seat up intentionally, especially if visiting the household of a female friend, secretly harbor some hostility toward women. Surely, every man who had a mother (or sisters) has been asked to put the seat down when finished. There is nothing worse than stumbling into the bathroom in the middle of the night and nearly slipping into a toilet, when attempting to sit down. Men, YOU KNOW THIS!! It is a kind gesture. Men who announce something to the effect of, “You should put the toilet seat up for me,” generally turn out to be self-absorbed jerks–the kind of guy who is rude to waitresses, gets impatient in traffic, and yells at old people who drive too slow. They see the toilet seat as a control issue, not a simple consideration. I wish I had paid more attention to this red flag!! Ladies, head up! Seat down men will treat you better. They make better friends and lovers!

I agree that men don’t need to use a toilet with the seat down. But, as being a male, I prefer to sit down, too, as women do… for one reason: When men urinate in a toilet while standing, they splash urine-contaminated water outside of the toilet bowl. There is no need to explain why urine outside of the toilet all over the walls and floor is not a pleasant thing. I have sat for years this way, and it really isn’t that difficult to get into the habit of doing so. Women have no choice. I figured that if women have to do it that way, I am not special! No one wants urine splashing everywhere around their toilet! And I always remember to leave the seat right where it is… in the down position, like a man.
