Why do other people outside the state of Florida freak when a Hurricane is coming to Florida?

I’ll tell you why. I am from Earth Quake country: So. California. I have been in Earth Quakes. And I have been in Florida, in my first hurricane. I have seen for so many years the media coverage on how dramatic and drastic they are. The catastrophes, the damage, people sliding down the streets, people boarding up their windows, people walking around after it’s over looking at their roof in the lawn across the street-and I am blown away. I am scared for the people in the storm. So, when we had advance notice that a hurricane was coming…I FREEKED THE HELL OUT. I almost started crying. In an apartment with my infant daughter I panicked. What will happen? Is a tree going to come through a window? Am I allowed to use the phone? I was scared. So I had to laugh when I read this. I also laughed when my East Coast husband and Florida friend enjoyed an earthquake with me in Cali. They ran outside and FREEKED OUT, while I stayed inside and laughed. They said they have never felt the earth move
