Why do pagans spell magick with a “K”?
Aliester Crowley, a prolific and public magician associated with the ceremonialist group the Order of the Golden Dawn started using the letter “k” to differentiate it from stage magic. Another story suggests that Crowley, who was known to possess a tremendous ego, used the letter “k” to separate himself from all other magicians of the time. No matter where it started, the letter “k” is added to the word magick as a matter of course nowadays and is used to refer to occult practices rather than the illusionary stage magic of such people as David Copperfield and his ilk.
