Why do people believe that actors and actresses/singers are role models?
Quite simply, money = power. Celebs earn so much while doing so little. In contrast, most of the general population has to work like crazy to be able to feed their families! And with the amount of free time they have, and all that money, celebs can do all sorts of things, including partying or working on maintaining their looks, etc. And the media plays a HUGE role in this! I mean, when was the last time any newspaper DIDN’T mention some celeb or other daily? Even then, it’s just them doing things like ‘getting their hair done’ or ‘going to the gym’ and so on. That’s ALL they ever seem to be doing. So I guess, it then presents a form of escapism for most people – they look at celebrity lifestyles, and wish they could live that same lavish lifestyle without having to so much as raise a finger. Also, celebs are usually good-looking. Or they are ‘considered’ good-looking by the media – even if no one else thinks so. And, of course, everyone else gets fooled into thinking that’s how they s
