The reason people confuse the two time periods is because there was very little difference between them. A peasant living in the rural countryside wouldn’t have enjoyed the “rebirth” of culture, art, science etc they were to busy providing livestock and food production for the artisan class in the cities. So its easy to confuse the two based on that only a handful of cities like Florence in Europe actually experienced a “rebirth”, but I can assure you even in these cities the social and economic equality barred those of lower birth from enjoying the frescoes and art that was privately owned and housed in large estates, cathedrals etc. For what we understand the Renaissance to be, the majority of the population didnt experience any significant change in there lives from the years 0-1800. It wasn’t until the industrial revolution that the increased productivity of farms would allow peasants to have a few hours of leisure time.
