You have more control over the engine. Also, driving a manual transmission forces me to look ahead at the road and anticipate what the engine may have to do and shift gears accordingly. Consequently, it’s made me a more attentive driver and less surprised by the stupidity of others. Manual transmissions are also a bit cheaper to buy and repair.
