Why do people eat hot cross buns on Good Friday?
It is likely that spicy buns were a springtime speciality before Christian times. When people became Christians the tradition continued and a cross was put on the top as a reminder of what happened on Good Friday. The buns were once a breakfast treat but now they are eaten at any time of the day. They are usually served hot with butter.
