Why do people feel the need to associate with political parties who don follow their own platforms?

It’s backwards. People join political parties based on theri beliefs- I’d belong to the communist party if I agreed with all of their ideas. When I first joined a political party, I researched about seven of them. Democrat, Republican, natural Law, that one with La roushe, constitution, Green, reform, progressive, and Libertarian. I became a Libertarian for the next 10 years, and i still agree with their platform on many points. As I grew older, though, I came to the conclusion that some of their points (particularly abortion) bothered me and became a Republican. The politics I inherited were left leaning independent If you want to talk about lemmings, how about all the people that don’t understand the republican party at all and hate it because of what they hear on TV?
