Why do people have difficulty conceiving?
There are MANY reasons. There could be male factor reasons – low sperm count, poor sperm motility (they don’t swim well), badly formed sperm, etc. There could also be a lot of factors on the woman’s side. She could have PCOS, which means hormone problems – she may not be ovulating, and/or her hormones may not be rising and falling as they should to support a possible fertilized egg’s implanting in the uterine lining. She could have a short luteal phase, which means there isn’t enough time for the fertilized egg to implant after ovulation and before a period would come. She may have egg quality issues. While it’s true that the odds of having some to a lot of issues conceiving go up the older a woman gets, infertility is NOT NOT NOT all about “women all wait until they’re 40 and then wonder why they can’t get pregnant”.
