Why do people like paranormal mysteries so much?
People like mysteries of all kinds.Paranormal mysteries are unique,they never get solved. Even when they are solved,they’re not.They get recycled over and over again.Some folks are closed minded and just refuse to accept the answers,Usually because it doesn’t fit their spooky world view. Here are some individual examples.
I think there are several reasons. Humans love to find patterns. For example you think of someone and the phone rings and it is them. You may think about that person and the phone doesn’t ring, or you think of them, the phone rings and it is someone else. We attach special significance to the time when we are right and forget the times when we are wrong. Part of it too is that we want to believe that the world is not black and white and paranormal mysteries let us imagine that there are whole other levels which we are not normally aware of. It could also be a comfort to people that death is not the end as ghosts are proof that there is a soul. I suppose as well, the fact that you can have a niche to yourself and become an expert. Most paranormal researchers don’t seem to like scientists because they feel they are trying to discredit them (they are, but that is how science works – if you discredit something then you know straight away it is not worth spending more time on). Enquiring minds want to know. Most ppl love a mystery. There are a lot of things at work ,here. It gives one a sense of satisfacton, to know that the pundits don’t know it all. A sense of mystery makes life interesting. Keeping an open mind is a sign of higher intelligence, and/ or emotional maturity. Ppl obviously enjoy evidence that sugests that death is not the end. IN my own case ,the subjective and shared evidence of spirits is gratifying,and comforting. It is no longer a belief that some preacher or guru has taught me, but knowledge, be it personal and subjective. It is still knowledge that the soul is what we are. Ibelieve it would be stupid to deny my own experience and evidence and try to make up lame excuses like some do. I have put my experiences to the test of reason and eliminated prosaic explanations.
