Why do people love firefighters but hate cops?
Firefighters are viewed as saviors – They do their best to save your property, home and life, and in the process, many are injured or killed. Ie: They are willing to give their life for you and yours. We KNOW that fire is hot and can do amazing damage to property, people, etc., and yet firefighters rush into it to save as much as they can. Cops are viewed as control-freaks. They give you tickets that cost you money, they arrest you and put you in jail that costs you money and time and maybe more (like job, marriage, etc.). They get physical when arresting people who argue/fight the arrest. They are “party poopers” – Part of their job is to keep the peace, and they will shut down (or quiet down) parties, arresting dissenters and drinking or curfew-breaking minors, etc. They represent the government (laws) and people who dislike IT are going to dislike the cops who enforce “its” rules.
