Why do people on AB think their opinion is fact?

As you surely know there are two kinds of answers, the opinion and the fact related ones. The opinion related questions will obtain answers from each users point of view and believes, yes they will defend their truth as fact. This is not bad we all have a right to it, but if we obtain a rebuttal with interesting points of view it is for the intelligent to read and understand as there is always something new to learn. Then we have the fact questions which should receive fact answers backed by a link that confirms each fact. There is no need to attack the person who answers with facts, they did not make it up they surely got the information from a book, newspaper, TV or radio and of course from the Internet. This is how I understand answers should be answered.

Because a lot of people in general think their opinion is fact

same reasons ppl out in the world think their opinion is fact many people think that truth is RELATIVE to what one thinks… oh what a sad mistake that mindset is.

For the same reason that the ones who don’t agree think their opinion is the fact People around here seem to have a serious public distinguishing between personal opinion (to which one is entitled to whether the other person thinks it’s right, wrong or indiffernt) and fact

Not everyone does. I do not believe that my opinion is fact. I intentionally attempt to make it clear, when expressing my opinion, that it is indeed just my opinion. I do not attempt to pass my opinion off as fact, and I acknowledge that my experiences and opinions are very subjective. If I do know (and post) something that I believe is fact, I try to show that I believe I’m correct based on certain criteria or evidence. Aside from that, believe me: I am well aware that my opinions are simply my beliefs based on my own life and experiences, and I know that many people will disagree with me.
