I hate the “Patriot” Act and oppose it very strongly. I would MUCH rather have my rights and freedoms than a false sense of security. How many of these ^ people above actually know what is in it? It’s not just about tapping phones. The “Patriot” Act allows the government to do all kinds of things and all they have to do is say “terrorism” or “national security” and they have a free pass. It’s not at all about “terrorists”, it’s about us. Look at National Security Letters (NSL). It’s a letter the FBI can write for themselves to get around a legal limitation. In one case, the FBI went to court to get a warrant, as they are supposed to, and were denied that warrant. So, they wrote themselves a NSL and continued on their way saying they were justified because they “disagreed with the courts ruling”. Isn’t that the purpose of the courts?
