Why do people support gun control and restriction?
You’re right. My gov’t has automatic weapons, so I should be allowed automatic weapons to defend my self against my gov’t. It also has tanks with 120mm guns, so, obviously, I need a 120mm gun, lest I be subjugated by tyranny. Come to think of it, my duly elected officials control nuclear weapons that it can subdue me with, so I need a law that allows me to own nuclear weapons to counter that threat. Lord knows that no people have ever overthrown a tyrant unless they had equal weapons (Russia, China). After WWII, a Japanese General or admiral was asked why Japan never tried to invade the US. He said that was because every American owned a gun; they could never subdue us. It wasn’t because we all owned Tommy guns, bazookas, or artillery pieces, it was because we owned hunting rifles and pistols. A citizenry with pitchforks can overthrow the greatest, most well equipped army in the world (Viet Nam). If you need nukes to overthrow the gov’t, then you don’t have the support of the people. A
