Why do people think that Arabs are terrorists?
I think a lot of it is down to the media and what you hear on the news. Even though it may not seem it,Western media can be very biased for example have you noticed when a news presenter mentions a criminal they always mention their religion when they are muslim but never for Christianity. So to answer your questions i think it is because of what people have stereotyped Arabs as, a lot being down to Bin Laden, 9/11 and because all of these events happned fairly recently most people will know about them and therefore associated all Arabs with it. However Hitler and the IRA did not happen as recently as these other things and therefore this could be a reason as to why people don’t associate terrorism with these events/people. All of this being said, most of the people I know have a very open outlook and in no way stereotype arabs to being terrorists, however it is the ignorant and often uneducated who make this false assumption and however much we would love to change this, unfortunately
