Why do people who get speeding fines whinge so much about it?

Quite often because they are unjustified. Yes, speeding is an “absolute” offence however it is often the case that roads are not signed properly or a road will have 5-6 different limits within a relatively short distance and all it often takes is a single glance away to miss a changed limit. Also, limits are often not set with any common sense or safety in mind but rather are set purely for revenue from cameras. There are a million and one examples of badly set limits and cameras being set up purely for revenue collection rather than safety. There are also many cases of cameras actually causing accidents rather than saving them. Canute – what utter rot – If it was purely speed then the motorways would not be the safest type of road in the country. It is inappropriate speed not speed itself which can be a problem. That inappropriate speed could be well below the limit for the road at the time.
