Why do skiers hate snowboarders?
the majority of snowboarders are young and with that a higher percent are inconsideraet (no more than young skiers) also when learning to ride there comes a time when you need to point the board down hill but still have not learned to change edges quickly so they may be out of controll teporarily, a board turning behind you is louder and that alone can be a little unsettling, boarders turn differently than skiers and if a skier does not understand the difference it can make it more difficult to pass a boarder, when a mishap does happen the board is bigger than skies and the rider is buckeled to it adding his weight to the boards momentum. I spend 40-50 days a year on snow I get hit by both skiers and boarders probable eaqual amounts, typically the boarders are a harder hit.
Mostly because if the resort has surface lifts built for two people, they generally want to ride as a single, this has the effect of doubling the lift que, they also tend to lean out on the T bar this can derail the lift also causing more delays, beginers tend to slide down the hill sideways rather than carving a turn scraping off the nice fluffy snow leaving hard packed ice surface below exposed.Studys have shown the average boarder push’s 6 ton of snow down hill per day, skiers 0.5 of a ton.On powder days skiers make short swing turns, snowborders carve across the whole slope ruining the chance of skiing a blanket of untracked powder. And last but not least they are generally young and have attitude.
