Why do skinheads like American History X (movie) so much…?
First of all, the movie does neither glorify or denounce the skinhead culture and belief system. It leaves the viewer with an open option of coming to their own conlusions. Some people see the film as stating "racism is bad and it begets hatred and violence". Others see it as "no matter what happens, a black guy will still kill for seemingly no reason so nothing changes..ever". There was an alternate ending as well where after Danny is killed, Derek is seen looking in the mirror covering the swastika tattoo. he then looks up, uncovers it, and reshaves his head, Then it faded tot he credits. So you tell me where they were coming from. Stop pushing your own attitude towards the film on others and speak in realistic terms. Not opinionated self righteous nonsense.
That’s a shock to me that they would like it so much. As for what Blacacid said, that movie does NOT glorify skinheads. If that were true, Edward Norton would have never learned something & changed his ways. American History X portrays skinheads as the narrow-minded, ignorant, hate-filled, brainwashed little bullies they are. If they do truly like it, perhaps it’s merely because they’re too stupid to understand the bigger picture & are just too mesmerized by the death metal & black makeup.
